Backset & Latch Type Definitions
 
Latch: 
The mechanism that throws the bolt or secures the door when the door is closed. (*Latches are specific to different manufacturers and models.)
Backset 
The backset of your door is the measurement from the edge of the door to the center of the bore hole. Many of the manufacturers that we carry have changed to an adjustable backset latch.
Strike Plate: 
The metal attachment that is mounted onto the doorframe. There are many different types including round and square and are supplied usually by function. (*Strike plates are specific to different manufacturers and models.)
